However, this makes the bed itself just as important. A bed is the focal point of every bedroom. When people are daydreaming during work, it’s often of their bed. Here are four things to consider when purchasing a new bed.

1. Size
Just like home sizes, bed sizes also vary quite a bit. This allows shoppers to pick the size of bed that fits their needs best. For instance, apartments tend to be smaller than duplexes or houses. Buying a smaller bed for smaller spaces not only allows those spaces to feel bigger, but can make the bed itself easier to transport when it comes time to move. However, if someone is in a home they can see themselves staying in for a while, buying a bed that they can also see themselves having for a long time can be a smart move.
2. Time
This section goes back to transient living that we’ve touched on before. A smaller bed is easier to build and easier to move, but is much nicer to live on than a futon. Not only that, but why spend the money on an expensive, giant canopy bed when a move could be in the near future? However, that canopy would be great if it were to stay in one place for long amounts of time. It’s important to consider how long to live in a space and what kind of bed matches that environment.

As with any other piece of furniture, it makes sense to consider the theme and décor of the room. Many homeowners build the theme around the bed, which is a central feature of any bedroom. Picking a wood like dark or light, and type like canopy or sleigh, can be important to deciding what the rest of the room or even house will look like.

4. Cost
It’s important to stay within a set budget. A bed is an incredibly important piece of furniture and should have a bit more money spent on it than say, a dresser.
